Where are you doing your internship?
I currently work as an Events Coordinator at the Five Elements Hotel in Sapareva Banya, Bulgaria. I say "currently" because that is not where I started. In fact, I had almost given up on my dream of doing my internship in Events and had taken up a Front Office position in a well-established and renowned hotel. Since this wasn't my first time working in that department, I quickly decided that I needed to use the safety net of the internship to explore another branch of the industry.
It wasn't an easy decision or transition. I had to navigate the change of occupation while maintaining good relationships with my previous employers. Now I am part of a small team at an up-and-coming SPA and Balneo hotel. There's always something new to learn and endless opportunities to grow.
What is your most memorable experience so far during this internship?
I was asked to be the official translator for the mayor's speech during the delegates' visit from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The invitation itself was a great honor, yet it also brought a mix of excitement and nervousness. As the day arrived, I could feel the weight of the challenge and responsibility on my shoulders. However, standing before the audience, translating the mayor's words, and representing my country, filled me with exhilaration. It was an incredible opportunity to be an ambassador for my nation and contribute to fostering international relations. The event was a resounding success, and I am grateful to have been a part of it.
How has your internship experience allowed you to apply the knowledge and skills gained at César Ritz Colleges Switzerland, and how has it contributed to your professional development?
During my time at Cesar Ritz Colleges, I learned the significance of going the extra mile, working diligently, and embracing opportunities that come my way. This theory was put to the test during my internship, where I encountered different challenges and began from a humble position. However, knowing that hard work yields results kept me motivated during tough times and enabled me to build strong connections with my colleagues, who recognized my dedication and determination.
How has the emphasis on business management and entrepreneurial thinking at César Ritz Colleges Switzerland influenced your decision-making and problem-solving during your internship or practical experiences?
At Cesar Ritz Colleges, we learn the importance of being flexible, embracing challenges, and developing resilience, which are important aspects of an entrepreneurial mindset. I have applied this approach in my professional journey, finding that these values help me overcome seemingly impossible challenges.
If you could give one piece of advice to future students of César Ritz Colleges Switzerland about making the most of their internship experiences, what would it be?
You don't have to have it all figured out; most people don't. Wherever you choose to start, know that there are always extra steps you can take to advance quickly, so take the initiative!
And now, let's have a bit of fun! If you could create a unique entrepreneurial concept or business venture within the hospitality industry, what would it be, and how do you think your education at César Ritz Colleges Switzerland has prepared you for such an endeavor?
I would like to explore the use of technology, art, and interactive design to create transformative event experiences. By using augmented reality, virtual reality, and projection mapping, we could transport guests to immersive environments within event venues, and transform traditional event spaces into extraordinary landscapes, offering a multi-sensory journey. I think that is where the future of the industry lies, and I am excited to dive into it.
