The Brig campus of César Ritz Colleges Switzerland has become the place to share insights about founding and managing hospitality, tourism, and service organizations! The biannual International Research Roundtable (IRR) hosts vibrant guest speakers who present peer-reviewed original research papers, translational research with managerial recommendations, research proposals, as well as practitioner case studies. This scholarly community of authors and reviewers from various universities across several countries come together in Brig to explore powerful themes such as leading in dynamic settings, strategy and innovation for better service, and operational sustainability.
Dr. Marianna Sigala of Sheffield Hallam University in Sheffield UK, is just one of many remarkable speakers who ignite interest in new ideas about business-ready teaching methods by putting a spotlight on the value of practical case studies through student-led research. Animated discussion panels debate the future of work in hospitality, tourism, and service organizations, and how new technology may impact future competencies.
At a recent roundtable meeting, Dr. Giuseppina Menconi, Associate Professor at César Ritz Colleges, led a spirited discussion of how hospitality, tourism, and service managers can make the best use of the metaverse. These managerial recommendations extended the line of thinking that she and César Ritz Colleges Associate Professor Dr. Apostolos Ampountolas developed in collaboration with Professor Gareth Shaw from the University of Exeter, UK, in a top journal, “Tourism Economics”. Their well-accepted work furthers thinking around the future of online intermediation and the metaverse. Interested to learn more? Check out the paper and stay tuned!
If you do research in entrepreneurship and management in hospitality tourism and service organizations, with the motivation of making the world a better place, then join us in the incredible Swiss Alps for the IRR held every year in March and September! We highly value people making important contribution to our community and welcome research on leadership and human resource management in dynamic settings, especially that which accounts for an employee perspective.
As a welcome bonus, the conference gifts made by talented local artisans with impaired vision at the Atelier Manus contribute to developing a more inclusive community in Brig. To express our delight at your joining our academic community, we will donate a tree planting in your honor when you join the IRR as an author, reviewer, or speaker, and present you with a personal certificate on recycled paper, thus further contributing to a sustainable environment. We look forward to welcoming you in beautiful Brig!
