Innovation lies at the heart of the hospitality industry. With the goal to set up students for success in a dynamic and changing industry, César Ritz Colleges Brig provides an education focused on balancing applied learning skills with academic research. All lecturers are encouraged to pursue research and all students are trained to find real-world solutions through qualitative techniques.
The pioneering event was interactive, completely original and definitely not boring! Upon entrance, all guests received iPads to follow the conference through iTunes U and chose from a menu of research topics that were of most interest.
The topics covered were varied and ranged from "Gamification and Learning" to "Current Trends of Edible Insects". One of the standout stars of the event was Mr. Colin Field, renowned Bartender from the Ritz Paris. Mr. Field presented the often-overlooked research aspects of his job as a bartender. Sharing the backstory to the alcohol and cocktails he serves in his work, he debunked many of the false realities the public believes and shared anecdotal industry stories he uncovered along the way.
César Ritz Colleges Brig Academic Dean shared, "What made the event so special was the collaboration between all of our partners. Alongside our students, our university partners, industry partners and colleagues from SEG schools all brought their expertise to share ideas and find solutions."
The event very successfully demonstrated that research and academia are valuable in the practical world of the hospitality industry. The blended approach taken across Swiss Education Group schools will prepare students to be leaders armed with the full toolbox of skills needed to meet the demands of this very exciting industry.
Congratulations to all organizers and participants!
