The Business Competition is an exciting moment for the Term 8 hospitality students following 6 months of intense work developing the plans. The final outcome is presented in front of a panel of judges who travel in each year from around Switzerland and the United States. The panel includes Dr. David Sprott, Assistant Dean from Washington State University and business experts from private American companies looking to support and even potentially recruit César Ritz Colleges students.

The Winning Team
This year’s winning team was Hongcun Liu from China, Yihan Zhao from China and Abraham Schott from Iceland. They developed a clever and eco-friendly plan focusing on sustainable packaging material marketed to the Swiss wine export industry. The mycelium mushroom based product is 100% biodegradable and composed of 100% renewable materials.

Investing in Young Entrepreneurs
The winners are set to travel to Washington State University on April 24-25th to compete against teams from Africa, Europe, Asia and North America. The well-known international competition attracts judges from multinationals invested in supporting and nurturing young entrepreneurial talent. The competition is a once in a lifetime opportunity with the potential to truly change our students’ lives with a 15,000 USD prize awarded to the 1st place team.

Good luck! Your future awaits!
